Isle of Wight – In recognition of the outstanding vegan food it offers – which promotes respect for animals and encourages vegan-friendly travel – Isle of Wight ferry operator Wightlink has been named “Best Ferry Operator for Vegan Food” in PETA’s Travel Awards, which celebrates the travel providers, hotels, attractions, and other industry leaders that are meeting the skyrocketing demand for vegan and animal-friendly travel.
Wightlink’s eco-friendly ferries offer an array of locally made vegan sandwiches, sausage baps, and toasties, and customers can also pick up vegan sweet delights, including a Magnum ice cream.
Today’s travellers are attracted to humane and ethical food, services, and experiences, and Wightlink enthusiastically meets that demand, proving that holidaymakers can enjoy top-notch food on the go while respecting animals and the planet.
“Travelling on a Wightlink ferry is the perfect way to start your Isle of Wight holiday – with an array of onboard offerings that promote kindness to animals,” says PETA Corporate Projects Manager Dr Carys Bennett. “The good people at Wightlink have set the industry standard for promoting vegan-friendly food and travel, and recognising them with this award is our way of saying thank you.”
Ten companies have been awarded this year, and winners include a global airline, two British train operators and an exhibition that are pioneering animal-free travel and experiences.
PETA – whose motto reads, “Animals are not ours to experiment on, eat, wear, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way,” and which opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview – offers tips for compassionate travel on its website.
